How to Align Your Orgone Pyramid to True North (Using Your Local Magnetic Declination)

The builders of the Great Pyramid aligned it to true north with an accuracy of about 0.06 degrees — better than most modern buildings. Here is why alignment matters, and how to align your own pyramid in under five minutes.

Why Alignment Matters

A pyramid is a geometric instrument. Its faces and edges define how it sits within the earth's magnetic field — the same field that magnetite and hematite, the core minerals of our formulas, respond to directly. The ancient builders did not treat orientation as decoration: every major pyramid at Giza is aligned to the cardinal directions with astonishing precision, and that alignment was clearly worth enormous effort to them.

For an orgone pyramid, alignment is an optimization, not a requirement. Your pyramid works from the moment you place it, at any angle. But aligning one face to true north settles the geometry into coherence with the planet's own field — and many of our most experienced practitioners report the field feels noticeably more settled and symmetrical when the pyramid is aligned. It costs nothing to do, and it is the way we place every pyramid in our own spaces.

True North Is Not Compass North

Here is the detail most people miss: a compass does not point to true north. It points to magnetic north — the wandering pole of the earth's magnetic field, which currently sits in the Arctic Ocean and drifts year by year. The angle between magnetic north and true north at your location is called magnetic declination, and depending on where you live it can be anywhere from 0° to more than 20°.

In Los Angeles, declination is about 11° east — meaning a compass needle points 11° east of true north. In New York it is about 12° west. In parts of Europe it is nearly zero. If you align your pyramid by compass alone, you may be off by the width of two clock minutes — fine for a hike, but not the precision the ancients considered worth achieving.

  • Ask AI. The fastest way: ask ChatGPT, Claude, or any assistant — "What is the current magnetic declination in [your city]?" You'll get the angle and direction (east or west) instantly.
  • NOAA's calculator. The authoritative source: search "NOAA magnetic declination calculator," enter your city or coordinates, and it returns your exact declination, updated for the current year.
  • Your phone's compass app. Most phone compasses (including iPhone's) have a "Use True North" setting that applies the declination correction automatically. Turn it on and skip the math entirely.

Aligning Your Pyramid: Step by Step

1. Find true north. Use your phone's compass with True North enabled, or take a standard compass reading and correct it: if your declination is 11° east, true north is 11° west of where the needle points; if declination is west, true north is that many degrees east of the needle.

2. Face one side to true north. Rotate the pyramid so one flat face — not a corner edge — squarely faces true north. On a Giza or Nubian form, this mirrors the orientation of the original pyramids: four faces to the four cardinal directions. On a Dodecahedron, align any face; its omnidirectional geometry is the least orientation-sensitive form we build.

3. Set and forget. Once aligned, your pyramid holds that orientation permanently. Declination drifts only a fraction of a degree per year — you never need to re-align unless you move the piece.

A Note on Perfectionism
